Cisco SCOR

This course tests the candidate's knowledge of implementing and operating core security technologies, including network security, cloud security, content security, endpoint protection and detection, secure network access, visibility, and applications. The course, Implementing and Operating Cisco Core Security Technologies, helps candidates prepare for this exam.

Candidates will consider common threats to on-premises and cloud environments, compare common security vulnerabilities such as software bugs, weak and/or hard-coded passwords, SQL injection, missing encryption, buffer overflow, path traversal, cross-site scripting/forgery, and describe functions of cryptography components such as hashing, encryption, PKI, SSL, IPsec, IPv4 NAT-T for IPsec, pre-shared key, and certificate-based authorization.
Candidates will compare network security solutions that provide intrusion prevention and firewall capabilities, describe deployment models for network security solutions and architectures that provide intrusion prevention and firewall capabilities, and describe the components, capabilities, and benefits of NetFlow and Flexible NetFlow logging.
Candidates will learn how to identify security solutions for cloud environments, compare customer and provider security responsibility for different cloud service models, and describe the concept of DevSecOps (CI/CD pipeline, container orchestration, and security).
Candidates will implement traffic redirection and capture methods, describe web proxy identity and authentication including transparent user identification, compare the components, capabilities, and benefits of on-premises and cloud-based email and web solutions (ESA, CES, WSA), and configure and verify web and email security deployment methods to protect on-premises and remote users (inbound and outbound controls and policy management).
Candidates will compare Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP) and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) solutions, explain antimalware, retrospective security, indication of compromise (IOC), antivirus, dynamic file scanning and endpoint telemetry, and configure and verify outbreak and quarantine control to mitigate infection.
Candidates will consider identity management and securing network access concepts such as guest services, profiling, posture assessment and BYOD, configuring and verifying network access device features such as 802.1X, MAB, WebAuth and network access with CoA.
